GES Calculation and Value
Our goal for Gainful Employment Score is to be used as a career development tool, and as a resume replacement when pre-evaluating a job seeker for a position. At this stage of development, we go though few manual steps to calculate the GES score.
What is the value of GES score for a job seeker? Our declared goal is to measure the ability of a job seeker to change jobs. To evaluate this ability we are using a business framework that measures the complexity of each tasks based on the association with a business function. Then, each role associated with a business function, is assigned a score that is dependent on many factors, such as business model, how long the job seeker stayed in that role, the contribution to the business cycle, and so on.
The GES final score comes with an assessment report that is itemized on roles and has also an overall evaluation.
Very important: Both the overall score and the grade for each individual role are measured against a career path! For instance, a job seeker with the same experience in operations, will get a different score if the target is new product development, or operations! This is because when measuring the abiltiy to change jobs, we view work experience as a gainful employment factor only towards a career path! This is why the data we require to add to the resume for each role a targeted career path. In our model we consider only ten career paths (see GES and Graphical Resume section for details) as relevant.
Services
We consider four types of job seekers for our services. First type, is the business professional with college degree and more than two years of experience. Second type is the IT professional working in either MIS, on software embedded in a product, or in a software company. Third type is the business professional which has reached the executive level. Fourth type is a college student, or a recent college graduate on the first role. For further details send us an email at info@gescore.org.
Gainful Employment Score for Professionals
At this stage we are providing only a low-cost, single-pass evaluation. For this we need your existing resume, with only two additional informations. First, for each role we ask to add to the existing resume the career path targeted. Second, if the overall career path is different than the last position (a job seeker is looking to change careers), then we ask to be added to the top of the resume. Before we start the calculations, we evaluate the overall resume if we can do it in a single pass or not. If we cannot, the fee will be returned and will let you know by email. We can do a custom GES evaluation, but will be on a case-by-case basis, and the fee will be higher.
These are the steps to get the GES score:- We receive job seeker applicant resume
- We send back the confirmation and if the resume is qualified for a single-pass GES scoring. In case we decline we return the fee. A job seeker can ask in that case for a custom evaluation. The main reason for refusal is not the complexity of a resume, but when roles are described in vague terms.
- Once approved, we start working on calculating the GES score. This can take normally few days. Once completed, job seeker receives an email with login information.
- The job seeker logs into getgescore.com and reviews the data we extracted for accuracy. Also, there is a form where further clarifications maybe needed.
- Once the job seeker acknowledges the data and provide answers to our questions, we will perform the final assessemnt and send an email notifying the availability of GES score.
- Job seeker can log into getgescore.com and view the final score data loaded into a generated Graphical Resume, together with the final score report. For each position and role we write an evaluation, as well for the entire work experience. The overall review we estimate to be about a page long. The job seeker can download a printed version of the report together with the generated Graphical Resume.
